This blog is about a lie heard ’round the world’ told by 4 drunken Olympiads. Now, the real issue may not be about lies, but about these 4 becoming scapegoats. Yes, scapegoats used to gloss over the many incidents that paint Rio negatively, whereby placing a black eye on future tourism. The purported story of robbery concocted by 4 Olympic swimmers has infiltrated the air waves to a record high dwarfing the Olympic games!
After a week of unearthing the truth, the jury is still out about what happened. What did happen? The rumor of being held at gunpoint may have some validity. There are images of these men sitting alongside the curb with their hands up (see video). Then there is the recent declaration from one colleague, who placed the blame directly on Lochte. Meanwhile, Lochte managed to make it out of the country, while Bentz and Conger were hauled off the plane waiting departure – oops!
As the story continues, two have been indicted, Feigenand and Lochte; although extradition will not occur for Lochte. All this over $20-30 US. Dollars in damages PLUS and extra $100, which was paid by the swimmers. It doesn’t stop here. There are 3 minutes of missing video that is supposed to show money being handed over to someone – the security guard, who looked like a policeman? Who collected the damages or who committed the so-called robbery, who pulled the taxi over with lights blazing? That is the real question.
Now, the people of Rio are ticked of at these men for trashing their city; making this an international incident. So, here’s the ruse. The President of Brazil is under investigation or corruption – really, and these young men are being indicted for being drunk, maybe lying about being robbed. Hey, one or both of the swimmers were so drunk that neither could remember where they were, much less remember being robbed!Check out the video.
Moral of the story: Don’t lie to the police, don’t lie to yourself, and most of all – don’t lie to your mother when you’re drunk. Yup, Ryan Lochte’s mother was the one who leaked the story to the press! Now it’s become an international incident. Hummm, reminds me of an old soap opera, “As the World Turns.” Will Jimmy Feigen get jail time and take the fall? Will Feigen and Lochte remain friends? Will Jimmy Feigen run for office, and will Gunnar and Jack sober up enough to remember the whole incident? Stay tuned for the next episode “As the Stomach Turns.”
