If you had a chance to describe this man, what would you say? He’s smiling, he looks pleasant, but what’s he sharing with his defense attorney? What words would you use to describe this man if you knew he murdered women? His rampage was bi-coastal during the years 1970 to 2005. He avoided apprehension partly because of his transient lifestyle, as evidenced in his movement noted in these states –count them!
But what’s more troubling, is the public’s fascination with this man – and he knows it. That’s probably why he’s smiling. He’s throwing out numbers, large numbers of women he murdered, and soon his story will probably hit the headlines of the tabloids as the most prolific serial killer to date. At 78 years old, he has nothing to lose, but an audience to gain, which probably makes incarceration a lot more palatable for him. He also knows most of the women will never be identified, because he selected society’s outcasts: prostitutes, run-aways and drug addicts. Did he dislike women?
To gain more confession, Texas Ranger Holland fed into that premise and gained Mr. Little’s confidence. Soon the names and areas of his dead were spilling forth – he even drew pictures of them. Below is a photo of 2 women, both LAPD Detectives. According to an LA Times article by James Queally: “For years, Little had refused to speak with investigators, said LAPD Det. Mitzi Roberts, who guided the effort to capture him in 2012. She and Silverman have long believed [….], that he took a perverse glee in having power over a woman’s life, and he resented the idea that he had been captured and imprisoned by two women.” That’s the irony we all want to hear – good prevails over evil in the end. Hats off to Det. Roberts and Silverman!
